Onimusha: Way of the Sword - PS5

Capcom come back to Onimusha after twenty years, into a Kyoto that has gone wrong, and build the whole thing around the Issen — a counter timed to the instant a blade would land. It rewards nerve rather than mashing, and it is unforgiving about the difference.

Demons drop souls to absorb, the sword sharpens on what you kill, and the loop feeds itself. The swordsman’s face and bearing are modelled on Toshiro Mifune with his estate’s blessing, which is not a gimmick so much as a statement of what the studio is aiming at. Rated PEGI 18.
