Two years on from the first game, the Inklings are back in Inkopolis Square with new weapons — Dualies that let you dodge-roll and Brellas that open into a shield — and Turf War still at the centre of it all: two teams of four, three minutes, and whichever side covers more ground in ink wins.

Ranked Battles rotate through Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker and the new Clam Blitz, and League Battles let a regular team climb together. Salmon Run is four-player co-op shift work for Grizzco, holding off waves of Salmonids and hauling in their Golden Eggs. On your own, Octo Canyon sends you in as Agent 4, with Marie, to recover the Great Zapfish and find the missing Callie.

Online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership. The Octo Expansion, a second single-player campaign, is sold separately as a download.
